Project Brief
A large, well-known aircraft manufacturer had been suffering from excessive sunlight, through the fibreglass roof lights at their manufacturing facility. The light was preventing employees from seeing calibration lasers on some of the machinery, and the company was considering installing overhead blinds. However, they were concerned that overhead blinds would collect dust, which could fall into the expensive machinery.
The Solution
To solve the problem, we installed Filmcote Solar Control Paint externally to the roof lights above the machinery. In addition to cutting glare by 80%, this product also cuts 85% of solar heat. This has the additional benefit of reducing the load on the plant’s air conditioning system, creating energy savings. Filmcote Solar Control Paint has a life expectancy of ten years – an extremely low-maintenance solution for the client.
