Frequently Asked Questions
How much energy will my window film save?
The most obvious source of high temperatures in buildings is energy from the sun, followed by internal heat generated by technology, people and poor ventilation.
The Building Research Establishment (BRE) in the UK reported that 40% of the load placed on air conditioning in offices comes from direct solar gain through windows. Between 1990 and 2000 there was a 60% increase in buildings utilising air conditioning. This number is still increasing. Buildings which are not treated with window film simply allow solar heat in, only then to artificially cool it at unnecessary expense.
Reducing the heat in a building even by a couple of degrees can have a huge effect on the load of air conditioning systems. In some cases window film can reduce the load on these systems to such a degree that it will literally pay for itself within the warranty period and provide a return on investment.

How do I clean my window film?
After this, most glass cleaners will work well, although a good economical cleaning solution for window film is a few drops of liquid washing-up soap added to 1 litre of fresh water.
Always use fresh clean soft materials to wash and dry your window film surfaces, such as soft cloth or a clean synthetic sponge, followed by another clean soft cloth or soft rubber squeegee for drying.
To avoid scratching the film, do not use bristle brushes, abrasive scrubbing sponges, or any cleaning materials that may have been contaminated with dirt particles. Some brands of paper towels are coarse enough to put fine scratches in the film, even film with its super durable scratch resistant coating. While these scratches may be too thin to be seen at the beginning, they can damage the polished look on the film over time.
What effect does window film have on my houseplants?
What about window film for listed buildings, or other occasions when external appearance is extremely important?
We can apply spectrally selective film. This film is virtually invisible yet still cuts out up to 50% of solar heat. Many types of window film are extremely discreet – contact us to discuss what is available.
Why does my newly-installed window film look watery?
The drying-out time varies depending on how warm and sunny the weather is. Don’t worry if it seems to be taking a while to dry out – the trapped moisture will dry out completely. Safety and security window film will always take longer to dry out as it’s thicker.
Drying-out times can vary from a few days to as much as 6 months depending on the type of film used and the weather conditions.
